Auto License Transfers
People who bring vehicles into Kentucky are required by
state law to transfer their auto license plates within 15 days.
Applications are at the County Court Clerk's Office, 229 West Third Street,
Russellville. Proof of ownership (vehicle title) is required. If
sales or use tax has been paid to another state, proof must be presented to
insure eligibility for a tax credit. Otherwise, a use tax on the present
market value of the car will be charged.
Passenger car license plates are $15 per year.
Personalized plates are available with the payment of an additional $25.

People with an out of state license must surrender their out
of state licenses within 30 days of making their residence in Kentucky. A
